FAQ
How do I select a pressure gauge for my application
Pressure gauge selection: confirm approvals; choose pressure type (gauge/compound/vacuum/differential); pick dial size for readability; select case style (open-front vs solid-front for added safety) and case material for the environment; verify connection size/thread + mount (lower/back/center back/in-line); size range so normal pressure is 25–75% of scale (≈2× operating pressure; ≤50% FS with pulsation); choose required accuracy; and ensure wetted materials match the fluid/temperature (use isolator/diaphragm seal if needed).
How do I select the proper range for a pressure gauge
Ideally, the range should be 2 x the average pressure the gauge will be exposed to. Typically, the pressure gauge reading should fall between 25% and 75% of the pressure fluctuations the gauge will see. For example, if the average pressure the gauge will be exposed to is 100 PSI the range selected should be 200 PSI. Having the gauge operate at mid-range enhances: - Accuracy - Gauge Life - Readabilty Range selection is further explained in the article below: https://blog.ashcroft.com/select-pressure-gauge-range
What is the Ashcroft PLUS! ™ Performance option on a pressure gauge
The Ashcroft PLUS! ™ Performance option for a pressure gauge is an alternative method of overcoming the effects of vibration without filling the case with a dampening media. The mechanics of this option are further explained in the article below: https://www.ashcroft.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/ashcroft-plus-performance-option-product-brochure.pdf
What is an Ashcroft CASE Instrument Audit (Survey)
An Ashcroft CASE Instrument Audit or Survey involves a team of auditors from Ashcroft to survey select categories of instrumentation in a facility to ensure functionality, performance, and proper application practices for those instruments. The categories of instruments typically surveyed in a CASE audit fall under but are not limited to these three descriptions: - Process Pressure Gauges - Industrial Pressure Gauges (3.5” Dail and larger) - Bimetal Thermometers - RTD & Thermocouple Probes Details of an Ashcroft CASE Audits are further explained in the article below: https://blog.ashcroft.com/benefits-of-critical-application-instrument-audits
