- Dwyer is especially known for differential pressure measurement, most famously the Magnehelic® differential pressure gage used for things like filter monitoring and fan/blower pressure.
- The Magnehelic® is commonly used to measure low differential pressure in air/non-corrosive gas applications such as filter resistance, fan/blower pressures, air velocity (with a pitot tube), furnace draft, and pressure drop across orifice plates.
- Some don’t. For example, the Series 2000 Magnehelic® is designed to indicate low differential pressure without requiring a power source.
- DwyerOmega’s pressure category covers absolute, barometric, gauge, differential, sealed gauge, and vacuum measurement, including gauges and related instruments.
- Quick rule of thumb: 1) Gauge = local visual indication 2) Transmitter = signal to PLC/BAS (control + trending) 3) Switch = simple on/off control point (alarms, proof-of-flow/pressure, etc.) Dwyer lists pressure solutions across these use cases (including differential pressure switches and instruments).
- Pick a range where your normal operating point sits in the middle of the scale (not pinned at the bottom, not riding the top). For DP across filters, choose based on clean vs dirty filter ΔP so you can see loading over time.
