- A diaphragm valve is a type of linear motion valve that uses a flexible diaphragm to control flow. The diaphragm presses against a seat to stop flow and lifts away to allow fluid to pass.
- When the actuator or handwheel is operated, the diaphragm moves up or down. Pressing the diaphragm against the valve body stops flow, while lifting it allows flow through the valve.
- Diaphragm valves provide excellent leak tight shutoff, isolate the process fluid from the valve internals, reduce contamination risk, and require minimal maintenance.
