Belts are the simplest way to transmit power between shafts in conveyors, fans, pumps, compressors and machine drives. Choosing the right belt type and size keeps drives efficient, quiet and low-maintenance.
Belt Types
- Classical V-belts (A, B, C) – the standard for general industrial drives
- Narrow wedge belts (3V, 5V, 8V) – more power in a smaller drive
- Cogged V-belts – run cooler and flex around smaller sheaves
- Timing and synchronous belts – no slip, for precise speed and positioning
- Banded and multi-rib belts – reduce belt whip on multi-belt drives
Belt Selection & Care
Match the belt cross-section to the sheave grooves and confirm the length from the part number printed on the old belt. On multi-belt drives, replace all belts as a matched set. Check tension after the first 24 hours of running, and replace worn sheaves to stop premature belt wear.
Centro carries V-belts, timing belts and the sheaves and bushings to go with them.

- For PEX tubing, use cinch clamps or crimp rings for secure connections at fittings, and plastic or rubber-lined hangers for support along runs. Avoid bare metal clamps that contact PEX directly — they can cut into the tubing over time. Stainless steel cinch clamps are the most popular choice for durability and ease of installation.
- The main types are clevis hangers, pipe straps, J-hooks, U-bolts, and riser clamps. For PVC specifically, use cushioned or plastic-lined supports to prevent crushing or abrasion. Spacing matters — PVC requires closer support intervals than metal pipe due to its flexibility, typically every 4–6 feet depending on pipe diameter.
- The most common types are top flange clamps, center load clamps, purlin clamps, and C-clamps. Top flange clamps attach to the top of a beam flange for vertical loads. Center load clamps hang below the beam for suspended loads. Choose based on beam flange width, load direction, and whether you need fixed or adjustable positioning.
- Galvanized hangers are cost-effective for general outdoor use but will eventually rust in high-moisture or coastal environments. Stainless steel hangers cost more upfront but offer superior corrosion resistance and a much longer lifespan outdoors. For any application near saltwater, chemicals, or constant moisture, stainless steel is the clear choice.
- The main types are ball, gate, globe, butterfly, check, needle, and control valves. Ball and gate valves handle shutoff. Globe and needle valves regulate flow. Butterfly valves manage large-diameter flow economically. Check valves prevent backflow. Control valves automate flow, pressure, or temperature regulation. Each is engineered for specific pressure, temperature, and flow conditions.
- PVF stands for Pipes, Valves, and Fittings. It's the term used across the industrial distribution industry to describe the broad category of products used to build, connect, and control piping systems in commercial, industrial, and mechanical applications.
- Stainless steel offers significantly better corrosion resistance, making it the right choice for wet environments, chemical exposure, food-grade applications, and outdoor use. Carbon steel is stronger and less expensive but requires coatings or linings to resist corrosion. When media or environment is corrosive, stainless steel outlasts carbon steel by years and reduces long-term maintenance costs.
- PVC pipe typically lasts 25–40 years under normal conditions but degrades faster with UV exposure, high temperatures, or chemical contact. Stainless steel pipe can last 50–100 years or more depending on grade and environment. For longevity, high temperature, or demanding industrial applications, stainless steel is the significantly longer-lasting investment.
