Thermal Link Actuators
Thermal link actuators close fire and smoke dampers or valves automatically when temperatures rise past a set point. A fusible link melts at the rated temperature and releases a spring that drives the valve or damper to its safe position, with no power needed.
Applications
- Fire-safe valve shutdown – isolate fuel, oil and chemical lines in a fire
- Fire and smoke dampers – stop the spread of fire through ductwork
- Tank and storage protection – automatic emergency closure
- Combined with pneumatic actuators – thermal release on fail-safe valves
Selection Points
Choose the fusible link temperature rating for the location, typically 165°F, 212°F or 286°F. Then size the actuator spring torque to the valve or damper. Check certification requirements (UL, FM) for fire protection applications, and inspect links periodically.
Centro can supply thermal link actuators and fail-safe valve packages for fire protection.
