Desiccant Air Dryers
Desiccant Air Dryers

Desiccants in compressed air dryers remove moisture to protect equipment and ensure clean, dry air. Common types like activated alumina, silica gel, and molecular sieves adsorb water vapor as air passes through. This is vital in industries like food, pharma, and electronics. Desiccants require regular regeneration or replacement to maintain dryer efficiency and system reliability.

The ID15-SW is what a compressed dryer should be: simple, reliable, effective and manufactured from quality heavy duty materials that will probably outlast the compressor and every other tool in your shop. The Van Air Systems Inline Desiccant Dryers can supply a -40°F pressure dew point and are ideal for pneumatic equipment or instruments that require small volumes (up to 15 SCFM at 100 psig) of extremely dry air or gas. The ID15-SW uses a convenient color changing desiccant cartridge (model SG23; one cartridge is included) to adsorb water vapor from the compressed air line. A sight window on the body of the dryer is present to view the condition of the silica gel, which turns from blue to pink when saturated with moisture, signaling that it's time to replace the cartridge. Replacing the In-line Dryer cartridge is a quick procedure. No tools are needed and there is no handling of desiccant involved. Changing the cartridge only takes minutes. No regular maintenance is required. The dryer has a range of ideal uses, from pneumatic control systems to spray painting to drying natural gas. Silica gel is a spherical bread consisting of 97% silica and 3% alumina with a highly porous surface and a strong affinity for adsorbing water. Silica gel is also applied as a selective adsorbent for a wide-range of hydrocarbons, C02, siloxanes, sulfur, and many other compounds. Because silica gel fractures in the presence of liquid water, it is often protected with a pre-bed of activated alumina. In air and gas drying applications, dew points of -40°F and lower can be achieved with silica gel. Features and Benefits High moisture retention capacity under dynamic conditions, allowing heated desiccant dryers with a higher design capacity and lower regeneration temperature A uniform bead shape provides for a lower pressure drop and less abrasion than granular types of silica gel. Available in two types, non-indicating and indicating. Indicating silica gel is impregnated with a moisture indicator that changes color from blue to pink when saturated. High static adsorption (moisture retention) under certain relative humidity conditions Available in indicating (blue to pink) and non-indicating Available in 25lb pails, 50lb bags and 330lb steel drums Downloads Brochure Safety Data Sheet (SDS)

The D2 is a simple and effective point-of-use compressed air dryer, ideal for small shops and DIY enthusiasts. Attach air lines to the dryer’s half inch female ports, installing it just before your filter-regulator. Add Dry-O-Lite desiccant and start delivering clean dry air to your paint gun, blast cabinet, plasma cutter, or air tool. Open the D2’s ball valve periodically to drain liquid. When shopping for an air dryer, look closely at the cost of replacement filters and media, not just the initial price. Too many competing small dryers saddle you with a razor-razorblade model. Great initial price. Highway robbery thereafter. With the D2 it’s a different story. Cheaper initial-price dryers are out there. But as they say, don’t be penny wise and pound foolish. No small dryer will cost you less to own and operate than the D2. Features Includes (2) 1.25 lb. pouches of DRY-O-LITE (each pouch is sufficient to completely fill the D2 dryer once) Manual drain valve Sight window for checking desiccant level Epoxy interior coating PVC bed support grid Applications Paint guns Blast cabinets Air tools Actuators Downloads Brochure Manual

Dry-O-Lite is a dense hygroscopic tablet that absorbs water vapor from streams of compressed air or gas. The surface of the desiccant tablet dissolves slowly, forming a brine solution which drops from the surface. The tablet continuously dissolves, or deliquesces, until the desiccant is fully consumed. In a properly sized D-series Compressed Air Dryer or Pipeline Dryer, Dry-O-Lite will establish a relative humidity of 55%, which equates to a dew point approximately 20°F lower than the temperature of the compressed air or gas at the inlet of the dryer. *Also known as GasDry Prime ** Online orders are limited to 150lbs. or less. For larger quantities please call us at 1-800-840-9906 or contact a local distributor. Features and Benefits No energy consumption Prevents condensation Can be used indoors or outdoors Prevents wintertime air and gas line freeze-ups Environmentally safe Low cost of operation relative to refrigerated dryers and regenerative desiccant dryers 3/4" tablet Little or no maintenance on drying equipment Available in 50lb bags, 50lb pails, 506lb steel drums and 2,000lb bulk bags Applications Abrasive blasting Portable air drying Low pressure gases, e.g. digester gas and landfill gas Remote outdoor locations without electricity Fuel gas dehydration for natural gas Ready-mix, asphalt, and concrete plants Pulp and paper Steel mills Dirty environments or areas with electrical classification restrictions Downloads Brochure Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
