- A ball valve is a quarter turn valve that uses a spherical ball with a drilled hole to control fluid flow. Rotating the handle 90 degrees opens or closes the valve quickly and reliably.
- When the ball’s bore is aligned with the pipe, fluid flows freely. When the ball is rotated perpendicular to the flow, the valve closes and stops flow completely.
- Ball valves are used in water, gas, oil, chemical processing, HVAC, food and beverage, and general industrial piping systems where tight shutoff is required.
- Ball valves provide fast on off operation, tight shutoff, low pressure drop, long service life, and simple operation with minimal maintenance.
- Full port ball valves have a bore equal to the pipe diameter, minimizing pressure drop. Standard port valves have a smaller bore and slightly higher flow restriction.
