Chillers

Industrial chillers remove heat from process equipment such as plastic molding machines, lasers, welders, food processing lines and hydraulic systems. They hold a steady coolant temperature, which improves product quality and protects equipment from overheating.

Chiller Types

  • Air-cooled chillers – self-contained, no cooling tower required
  • Water-cooled chillers – higher efficiency where tower water is available
  • Portable chillers – serve individual machines
  • Central chiller systems – cool entire plants with redundancy
  • Glycol and low-temperature chillers – below-freezing process cooling

Sizing a Chiller

Chiller capacity is based on the heat load (tons or BTU/hr), required coolant temperature, flow rate and ambient conditions. Add margin for future equipment and hot summer days. Consider pumps, tanks and controls as part of the package, along with water treatment to prevent scale.
