Self-Cleaning

Self-cleaning filters remove debris from water and process liquids and clean themselves automatically, with no shutdown and no manual basket cleaning. When the pressure drop rises, the filter flushes captured solids to drain while it keeps supplying filtered liquid.

Self-Cleaning Filter Types

  • Suction scanner filters – nozzles vacuum debris off the screen
  • Brush-cleaned filters – rotating brushes scrub the screen surface
  • Backwash screen filters – reverse flow flushes the element
  • Disc filters – stacked grooved discs for irrigation and cooling water

Where They're Used

Self-cleaning filters are common in cooling towers, irrigation, intake water, wastewater reuse and process water. To size one, you'll need the flow rate, the type and load of solids, the target micron rating and the available pressure. They often replace bag or cartridge filters that need frequent changes.

Centro offers self-cleaning filters and can help you size one that cuts maintenance and keeps flow steady.
