Ducting
Ducting carries dust, fumes and particulate from the point where they're generated to your dust collector. Good duct design keeps air velocity high enough to hold dust in suspension, which prevents buildup, keeps hoods working and protects workers.
Ducting Components

- Spiral and welded duct – permanent systems for heavy dust loads
- Elbows, branches and reducers – smooth transitions that limit pressure loss
- Blast gates and dampers – balance airflow between drops
- Flexible hose and hoods – capture dust at the source
Design Considerations
Size ducts to keep the right conveying velocity for your dust, typically 3,500 to 4,500 feet per minute for most industrial dusts. Use long-radius elbows and 30° or 45° branch entries to cut losses. For combustible dust, include grounding, explosion isolation and NFPA-compliant design.
