Oil/Mist Coalescing
Compressed air often carries more oil and water than it looks. Oil mist coalescing filters capture fine aerosols that standard particulate filters let through. Tiny droplets collide inside the filter media, merge into larger drops and drain away, leaving clean, dry air for instruments, paint lines, packaging and pneumatic controls.
What's Available
- General purpose coalescers – remove oil and water aerosols down to about 1 micron
- High-efficiency coalescers – sub-micron removal for instrument air and sensitive processes
- Oil vapor and carbon filters – strip odor and vapor after coalescing
- Replacement elements – drop-in cartridges for popular housing brands
- Housings with auto drains – discharge collected liquid without operator attention
Getting the Best Results
Install a particulate pre-filter upstream so the coalescer isn't loaded with dirt, and size the filter for your actual flow, not the pipe size. A differential pressure gauge shows when it's time to change the element. Most elements should be replaced at least once a year, even if pressure drop looks acceptable.
Centro carries coalescing filters and elements for compressed air and process gas, and our team can help you choose the right filter grades for your air quality class.
