Every time a pneumatic valve or cylinder exhausts, it releases a sharp blast of air that can easily exceed safe noise limits on a busy plant floor. Mufflers and silencers slow and diffuse that exhaust, bringing noise down to a comfortable level while keeping oil mist and debris out of the workspace.

Sizing Tips

Match the muffler's thread to the exhaust port and check its flow rating against your valve's Cv. An undersized silencer creates back pressure that slows cylinder speed. In dirty or oily environments, choose a design that can be cleaned or replaced easily, since a clogged muffler is a common cause of sluggish actuators.
